Lakeland and Border Laser Grand Prix

Not much wind when we arrived but as we launched out to the start area the wind filled in nicely and we had a good wind all day - rising to its best at about race 2/3 - so much so that we were offered a 4th race as a one off. Howard set a good sausage triangle course with a pin end rounding for the finish that furrowed the brows of those who hadn't read the sailing instructions properly ! There was a good bunch of 4.7 sailors from the club who certainly gave the senior sailors a good run for their money and rose high up in the rankings when handicapped. Regular competitors Tim, Stuart and Greg took the honours even after handicap but it was good to see some of the other youth travellers from the Lake district coming over to the Pennines! Many thanks to the Derwent Sailing club.
