Mid Summer Sleep-Over and Sail
Published 21:56 on 28 Jul 2020
Time to get back to the club and enjoy doing what we love, sailing and appreciating the beauty that is Derwent Reservoir.
The club grounds will be open for camping during these dates and there will be some form of sailing, this may be buddy sailing or if there is enough interest we could launch a safety boat so under 13's and less experienced can sail.
We all love getting out on the water so let's meet up on the day see who's keen for what in the conditions we have and organise some 'distancing' fun on the water. This could be a cruising muster, a race in some form (long course, short course, multiple laps, pursuit, handicap), there could be some coaching, however if we decide to launch a safety and/or committee boat it would incur costs, these could be shared out between the group so as easily affordable.
Unfortunately we will have no showers or changing facilities available or the use of the club house or bar, also if the weather takes a turn for the worse we could always nip home to clean up and dry out, this is supposed to be fun not an endurance test!
You could also pick your days to suit and Saturday 8 August will be a normal Saturday with safety cover on the water and junior sailing in the afternoon.
There is also a proviso that plans could change or be cancelled at short notice for our safety and the interest of the club.
We would also like to run a similar 'event' leading up to the bank holiday weekend should there be enough interest and we may know more after the 9th
