Prior to attending the club

  1. Members must pre-book a slot for Buddy sailing through the website (by doing so they are undertaking to comply with this guidance). Slots must only be booked for DRSC Members – Guests are not permitted. Buddy sailing requires that you have an identified buddy.
  2. Members must not attend the club if they feel unwell with symptoms of Covid 19.
  3. Members must not attend if they have had contact with a family or household member who is unwell with symptoms for 14 days.
  4. Members must check the weather forecast and be satisfied they can cope with the conditions.
  5. If you no longer require your booked session please cancel it using the same link.
  6. Please bring hand sanitiser with you to sanitise hands before opening gates

Current weather conditions at the club:

Slots can be pre-booked using the link above, by clicking “Reserve activity”
from the Right Menu on the Member Portal, or the “Book Slot” button displayed on the home page when viewing on a mobile phone. Please reserve slots for anyone who needs to be on the slipways. For anyone else attending the club – please check them in on arrival.

Attending the club

  1. The club gates will remain locked at all times to restrict access to members only. (Members requiring a key shall order one online

  2. Members must sanitise their hands before unlocking the gate.

  3. Members are to lock the gate after they enter the site and then sanitise their hands again.

  4. Social distancing of 2 metre must be adhered to all times when on site. Public Health England Guidelines allow social distancing to be ignored in the case of an accident or emergency, but good sanitisation, such as hand washing should follow immediately afterwards.

  5. The club house will remain locked, but Buddy sailors will have access through a key to a toilet. You can change in your caravan if on-site. (But you must not stay overnight in a caravan or tent).

  6. Before you go on the water, make sure you are comfortable with the wind speed. If you are unsure of your limits, it is suggested that sailors should view a steady wind of 15 mph or gusts of 20 mph as maximums.

  7. You must only sail your boat as a single occupant, unless crewed by a member of your household. Children can only sail without an adult on-board if they have been approved by the Junior Sailing Co-ordinator. Adults sailing with a child must consider their ability to self rescue themselves and their child in the conditions.

  8. Before you sail, make sure your boat is in good condition to avoid breakages, the most common reason for requiring help, as there will be no safety cover.

  9. Place a completed Buddy Sailing Form in your car window.

  10. Check-In to The Premises / for Your Buddy Sailing Session using a Smart Phone. (You can connect to the club wifi to do this using the password WhyAmINotSailing)

  11. Only members will be allowed on-site.

  12. Club ‘hire’ boats / equipment can not be used as it would not be practical to sanitise these between sailors

Check-In is only possible from a mobile phone from the “Check in…” button on when viewing the
home page

Use of Toilets

  1. Both the ladies and gents washrooms and toilets will be open (for 1 person at a time). You need a key to lakeside front door, which some buddy sailors already have. More keys can be obtained from the website for a small fee.

  2. Only one person can use the washroom at a time.

  3. Please respect social distancing if you are waiting.

  4. Please ensure you thoroughly wash your hands when you leave the toilets in a way you would wish to find them. Cleaning products will be available for members to use.

When you leave the club

  1. Check you are leaving your boat safely secured and the club in a clean and tidy condition.

  2. Check-Out of the Premises / Your Buddy Sailing Session using a Smart Phone.

  3. Members must sanitise their hands before unlocking the gate.

  4. Members are to lock the gate after they exit the site and then sanitise their hands again.
