Introduction to Open Water Swimming (1hr)
Aim: To get new swimmers confident and relaxed in open water. Wetsuit fitting advice, safe water entry, understand the effects of cold water, acclimatisation, breathing, sighting, basic buoy turns.
This course is to enable swimmers to transfer their swimming abilities from pool to open water and understand the differences.
Intermediate open water skills (1hr):
Aim: To further the skills of swimmers already confident in open water. Relaxed breathing, efficient sighting techniques, pack swimming, drafting, faster buoy turns, techniques for swimming in adverse weather conditions, deep water starts. This session may be altered according to the needs of each group of swimmers.
Advanced Open Water Skills (race ready, 1hr)
Aim: Fine tuning of skills and tactics for triathletes/club swimmers or experienced open water swimmers. Race tactics, pack swimming, various buoy turns, optimise drafting and know when to make a break, prepare for varying conditions, get comfortable with contact to gain an advantage. This session may have an element of interval training. The session may be altered to suit the needs of groups of swimmers.
