Racing is Back
10 sailors mustered on the lawn for a suitably distant briefing for the return of Sunday racing. On a rather calm and dull Sunday morning, this was more than might have been expected for a 10:30 brief. By the end of the morning competition had nearly doubled in size. The fast handicap decided to start with the slow. A trapezoidal course was agreed and the first official race at the club

Transatlantic boat at Derwent
In 2022 4 rowers will attempt to cross the 3800 miles of the Atlantic from Portugal to French Guiana in a specially designed boat. Derwent had the opportunity to help them in testing the boat for the fist time. Unfortunately the club was closed at the time and only a few hardy buddy sailors were able to view the boat and its progress on the water. Everything went well and we hope to monitor their

key fobs
Barrier entry to club we intend to insist, for security reasons, to allow entry only by key fob in the not too distant future. When that happens, the entry barrier key codes will be changed and key fobs will only be available by post and will be charged at £2.00 each. Until then, they are available free at the club by ordering them online, and they will be posted on the notice board

Mid Summer Sleep-Over and Sail
Time to get back to the club and enjoy doing what we love, sailing and appreciating the beauty that is Derwent Reservoir. The club grounds will be open for camping during these dates and there will be some form of sailing, this may be buddy sailing or if there is enough interest we could launch a safety boat so under 13's and less experienced can sail. We all love getting out on the

Get Your News To Members...
We have been working on a better way to get our messages to members. We know some prefer an email, others a tweet or a facebook post and of course the website remains the best place for those messages that need to live on for a bit longer. Barbara Darling
It is with great sadness that we have learnt about the passing of Barbara Darling. Barbara was one of those rare people totally dedicated to sailing and who, together with her husband David, made a tremendous contribution to sailing in general and to the Club in particular. She was active in many aspects of the sport, but none more than in the field of junior sailing where she played a fundamental role

Common Questions
We've been collating together Frequently Asked Questions from members and visitors to the website. We've tried to provide answers to as many as possible on the website . Things are clearly changing rapidly with coronavirus and the measures required for social distancing etc. We will therefore add to the questions, and the existing answers over time. To give the committee a chance to focus on making

Event Diary
You may have noticed the up-coming events diary has reduced to almost no events. We have deleted all the routine club racing from the calendar. That doesn't mean racing wont be back, but until we know the details of how and in what format, we thought it would be clearer not to list them. We have left a small number of events in the diary - mostly which are linked with third parties.

RYA Newsletter
As an RYA Training Centre we receive a paper copy of their Wavelength Magazine which is intended to keep coaches and instructors up to date. We normally leave this upstairs for all to read. RYA Instructors and Coaches should be receiving a copy to their home address or by email. However, we know the content interests other members and as the Club House is out of bounds for the time being we
