Event Diary
Published 21:22 on 16 Jun 2020
You may have noticed the up-coming events diary has reduced to almost no events.
We have deleted all the routine club racing from the calendar. That doesn't mean racing wont be back, but until we know the details of how and in what format, we thought it would be clearer not to list them.
We have left a small number of events in the diary - mostly which are linked with third parties. Decisions on those events have not yet been made, and will therefore be subject to review as current government advice on coronavirus evolves.
To answer a few specifics:
Club Sailing - Rescue Cover
We announced by email that we are looking to re-establish some form of safety boat presence on Wednesday, Saturday and Sundays in July. A further announcement will obviously be made nearer the time.
Club Racing
We believe that for formal racing to take place, we will need clarity on the government guidelines about gatherings of more than 6 people and how this affects racing. Formal racing us unlikely to take place before July at the earliest.
Courses & Coaching
Courses for beginners are difficult to deliver while maintaining social distancing. Delivery of coaching for more experienced sailors may become possible. We are constantly reviewing options. Establishment of safety cover is likely to be the first step for this.
Swimming
Our swimming committee is currently exploring options that might enable open water swimming to resume. We don't yet know if or when that will progress. We will post here and to members when there are developments.
