Sunday Racing
Sunday racing is a key part of our sailing calendar, providing a mix of competitive racing and social sailing for members of all abilities.
Schedule
- Start Time: Racing begins promptly at 11:00 AM.
- Number of Races: We aim for three back-to-back fleet races OR a single 90 minute pursuit race
Race Management
- Course Setting: Courses are typically set and displayed from the committee boat, ensuring varied and challenging racing.
- Race Formats: Sunday racing features either handicap fleet races with a single start, or a pursuit race where the slowest boats start first and the faster boats try to catch them. See the club calendar for details.
Participation
- Eligibility: All full sailing members are welcome to race. Visiting sailors may be granted temporary membership for the day.
- Sign-On Procedure: Competitors must sign on each race day using the form near the safety office.
- Boats: You can sail any monohull non-foiling dinghy with a valid Great Lakes handicap. Other craft may be raced with prior approval of the sailing committee.
Communication
- Notices and Updates: All race-related announcements, including schedule changes and important notices, will be posted on the DRSC Club Racing WhatsApp group. Members are encouraged to join and stay updated.
