9 COURSES

9.1 The courses shall be described in the Sailing Instructions.

11.2 Corrected times and pursuit start times will be calculated using the Great Lakes Handicap System.

11.3 A competitor's series score shall be the total of her race scores excluding the worst 50% of the total races in the series. For an odd number of races scored in a series, the races to count will be rounded down to the nearest integer.

11.4 Competitors may sail each series in up to two different classes of boat and have all races count towards the overall series score. Points are awarded to the helm rather than the boat.

11.5 Competitors who do not sign on may not receive the correct series scores.

11.6 Results will be posted on the DRSC Club Racing Whatsapp and on the website. Results may be queried within 48 hours of posting by messaging on Whatsapp or emailing results@drsc.co.uk.

11.7 Boats observed by the Race Committee to have not sailed the correct course will be scored NSC without a hearing. Boats may seek redress from this action.

11.8 Points for the Race Officer (RO) and Assistant Race Officer (ARO) - A competitor may be awarded average points for a race if they did not race due to performing an RO or ARO duty. This is limited to one race day per series. The RO and ARO must make it clear that they wish to receive average points on the race results sheet.

11.9 Results for individual days race days will be published. No discards will be included in the scores for individual day results. If additional races are held which exceed the three races scheduled on a Sunday, or the two races scheduled on a Wednesday, these will not be included in the results for the day.

12 DATA PROTECTION

12.1 By participating in this event, competitors automatically grant to the organising authority and the event sponsors the right, in perpetuity, to make, use and show, at their discretion, any photography, audio and video recordings and other reproductions of them made at the venue or on the water from the time of their arrival at the venue, until their final departure, without compensation.

12.2 In order to manage the event, information provided by competitors will be held on a database. The management of personal information and images will comply with the General Data Protection Regulations.

13 RISK STATEMENT

13.1 Rule 3 of the Racing Rules of Sailing states: 'The responsibility for a boat's decision to participate in a race or to continue racing is hers alone.'

Sailing is by its nature an unpredictable sport and therefore inherently involves an element of risk. By taking part in the event, each competitor agrees and acknowledges that:

(a) They are aware of the inherent element of risk involved in the sport and accept responsibility for the exposure of themselves, their crew and their boat to such inherent risk whilst taking part in the event;

(b) They are responsible for the safety of themselves, their crew, their boat and their other property whether afloat or ashore;

(c) They accept responsibility for any injury, damage or loss to the extent caused by their own actions or omissions;

(d) Their boat is in good order, equipped to sail in the event and they are fit to participate;

(e) The provision of a race management team, patrol boats and other officials and volunteers by the event organizer does not relieve them of their own responsibilities;

(f) The provision of patrol boat cover is limited to such assistance, particularly in extreme weather conditions, as can be practically provided in the circumstances;

(g) It is their responsibility to familiarise themselves with any risks specific to this venue or this event drawn to their attention in any rules and information produced for the venue or event and to attend any safety briefing held for the event.

14 INSURANCE

14.1 Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of £3 million per incident or the equivalent.
