DRSC Race Management Guide - Club Racing 2025

Before doing a Race Officer (RO) duty, please read:

Please DO:
  • Get the results AND signing-on sheet to Alastair Conn ASAP either directly, over whatsapp, or by emailing results@drsc.co.uk with photos of the results.
  • Mark the results sheets with your own boat number if you want to receive average series points.
  • Check the calendar and NOR to determine if you are running fleet racing or a pursuit race on a Sunday.
  • Run the racing from the committee boat and ask the sailors for help setting courses if you need it.
  • Consider the slower boats and juniors. Make sure they aren't forgotten about and make sure to finish them.
  • Start the racing on time. It is up to the sailors to be there on time so don't wait for people who are slow launching.
Please DO NOT:
  • Run the racing from the crow's nest. This ALWAYS results in worse racing. Use it only as a last resort if, for example, committee boats are not available, weather conditions are extreme, or the number of boats is very small (<5).
  • Assume you know what you are doing without reading the SIs, NOR and management guide....things might have changed!

If you need any additional support, please join the the DRSC race officer support whatsapp group via the Derwent Reservoir Sailing Club community set up on whatsapp
